Conclave Schedule

Conclaves are scheduled for the first Tuesday in January, April, June, and October.

A by-law amendment to this effect will be posted to the fratres presently. In the interim, dispensation has been requested to adopt this schedule, pending the passage and approval of the by-law amendment. Unless otherwise stated, our conclaves are held at Jefferson Park Masonic Temple, Chicago, in conjunction with St. Bernard Commandery No. 35.

Conclaves are occasionally rescheduled and to be held in conjunction with a visit to another commandery and the delivery of a lecture or presentation to our hosts. Special conclaves and additional events are held at the call of the Eminent Commander; none is currently scheduled.

Owing to Albertus Magnus Commandery's unique nature, our annual inspections are "books-only" verifications of our administrative and financial records, and are held in conjunction with the annual inspections of St. Bernard Commandery No. 35.

1910 Triennial Conclave Medals Collection

Click here to see the collection of medals and jewels from the Grand Encampment's 35th Triennial Conclave in Chicago in 1910. The collection was originally assembled by an unknown fratre in 1910 and framed in 1991 by Sir Knight Robert J. Elia, EPC, of St. Elmo Commandery No. 64. In honour of the centennial, S.K. Paul A. Scheeler, EPC, of St. Bernard Commandery No. 35, designed and built an illuminated triangular frame to showcase the collection which features both large, enamelled medals as well as smaller lapel pins, all issued for the 1910 triennial.

A flier is available here, which includes an index of all of the medals and jewels, showing the commanderies who issued them, and their home towns.

Commandery and the GAR

On 26 April 2011, Sir Knight Paul Scheeler EPC presented a report on the Grand Army of the Republic, and the relationship and overlap between the GAR's Columbia Post No. 706 and Saint Bernard Commandery No. 35.

Historical Photo Essays

St. Bernard Commandery No. 35, with whom we share a substantial membership, have recently digitised, captioned, and posted the contents of several amateur photographic albums and scrapbooks. Images include 68 of the 1898 Triennial Conclave in Pittsburgh, 62 of the commandery's trip to the 1904 Triennial Conclave in San Francisco & Saint Louis World's Fair, 91 of the 1910 Triennial Conclave in Chicago, and 23 of our semi-sesquicentennial anniversary celebration in 1945, along with many other events.

About Us

Named in honour of Saint Albertus Magnus, O.P., Doctor Universalis, (1193/1206-1280 C.E.), Albertus Magnus Commandery of Research No. 92 is stationed at Jefferson Park Masonic Temple, Chicago.

Just as lodges of research and chapters of research typically do not confer degrees, neither does our commandery of research confer orders. Our inspections are conducted jointly with St. Bernard Commandery No. 35 or another commandery. Consequently, membership is open only to those Freemasons who have already received the chivalric orders in a customary commandery. Our dais officers are all Eminent Past Commanders, many of whom have been decorated by the Grand Commandery of Illinois for their outstanding contributions.
